The double tourbillon is a rare construction, even more so with this structural approach that meets aesthetic, historical, and horological objectives.
Globetrotter‘s dome is finely crafted with precise sculpting of the continents. The hand-painted seas and sculpted lands are a beautiful backdrop to the dual time zone display. The infinite arch above fixes their rotation. Arnold & Son pays tribute to John Arnold’s marine chronometers, used on English naval ships in the 18th century during their explorations around the world.
Globetrotter measures 42 or 45 mm in diameter and is crafted in red gold (5N), platinum (Pt 950), or stainless steel. In its centre, the dome depicting the Northern Hemisphere is held from side to side by an immense openworked bridge. This arch is the visual signature of the collection and houses a functional ruby holding the axis of universal time.
The Globetrotter collection is assembled on the Maison’s automatic calibre A&S6022. Like all Arnold & Son movements, it has been entirely developed, produced, decorated, assembled, adjusted and fitted at its Manufacture in La Chaux-de-Fonds. It is decorated with the traditional delicate watchmaking motifs: stippled main plate, radiant Côtes de Genève bridges, satin-finished wheels and bevelled, polished screws. Its specific finishes are also NAC-treated. This type of plating uses precious metals close to platinum to produce an exceptionally high-quality anthracite result.
